Los Angeles, CA — January 22, 2019: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is very pleased to announce that home improvement retail veteran, Angy Smith, has joined Habitat LA as Senior Vice President of Retail Operations. Angy will oversee all aspects of the organization’s ReStores which are currently located in Bellflower, Los Angeles (Mid-Wilshire), and Torrance. She will also be focused on Habitat LA’s expansion efforts to open more locations.
Angy brings over over 24 years of experience in the retail business, holding positions from Store Manager to the Vice President of Merchandising for well-known home improvement retailers, including The Home Depot and, most recently, Lowe’s Home Improvement. Additionally, Angy has been a hands on volunteer and enthusiastic advocate for Habitat LA for nearly a decade.
“Angy has been a long time supporter of Habitat LA and has a big heart for the work of Habitat for Humanity,” said Erin Rank, President and CEO, Habitat LA. “She has been a Habitat champion internally at Lowe’s, where she and her team have hosted clinics for our partner homeowners and volunteers, in addition to volunteering on our build sites. I am excited to welcome Angy as a senior leader of Habitat LA and look forward to the added value that she will bring not only to our ReStores but to the entire organization.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to join Habitat LA. The minute I heard my first partner family story I fell in love with Habitat and they just couldn’t keep me away,” said Angy Smith. “It is extremely rewarding for me to be able to do what I love from a retail perspective, for an organization that offers so much to the communities they serve. I am beyond blessed to have this opportunity and am excited to see how high ‘up’ is for the ReStores.”
Habitat LA ReStores sell low-cost building and home improvement materials to the community. The ReStores receive daily donations of new, used, discontinued or surplus building materials, appliances, and home furnishings from companies, contractors, retailers, film and television studios, and individuals. Prices are at least 50% off retail and all proceeds are used to help build strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter in local communities and around the world. Since 2004, Habitat LA ReStores have helped divert over eight million pounds of reusable materials from local landfills. There are currently three locations in Bellflower, Los Angeles and Torrance.
