WME|IMG Foundation Walks the Walk at Compton Home Repair

The day began bright and early with WME|IMG Co-CEO Ari Emanuel the first to arrive. Soon after, a bus with 40 eager Photo Apr 27, 8 48 45 AMvolunteers pulled up. After a short introduction from Jo-An Turman, Habitat LA’s VP of Entertainment Industry Partnerships, the work began.

Organized by our wonderful home repair team, the group then broke up into smaller teams. The day’s tasks included painting the exterior of the home, landscaping both the front and back yards and building a playhouse. Ari Emanuel led the landscaping team and efficiently cleared Photo Apr 27, 1 16 46 PMout the back yard. Other teams worked to prep the house for painting while others painted the playhouse so it could be assembled after lunch. By the end of the day, the house was painted, the yards were cleared out and the playhouse was built!

Although several WME|IMG volunteers had worked on Habitat LA new construction sites in the past, they’d never done a home repair or built a playhouse. Both Habitat LA’s Home Repair Program and playhouse builds have grown in recent years.

Many were impressed with the work they could do in just a day’s time. WME|IMG Senior Agent and Habitat LA Photo Apr 27, 9 42 43 AMVolunteer Simon Clarkson summarized the day: “My experience was made so easy by the Habitat team! Having only a day to achieve something, the team made great use of all the helping hands sent to them. Personally, I enjoyed the chance to use practical skills I learnt many years ago that I rarely get to use these days!

Thank you WME|IMG Foundation for choosing to partner with Habitat LA! We can’t wait for Walk the Walk 2018!
