Welcome Home to the Aguilar and KC Families!

The Aguilar Family

“Owning a home for us means a dream come true, freedom, happiness, and responsibility.” – C. Aguilar

We are so excited to welcome two more new homeowners into the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) family! On April 22, we held an intimate but joyful ceremony to celebrate this milestone for the Aguilar and KC Families as they received the keys to their new homes.

In order to keep our guests and staff safe, this socially distanced ceremony was very limited, however, we captured all of the smiles and heartfelt words to share with all of you! Stay tuned in early May to watch this special home dedication event!

The KC Family

As immigrants from Nepal, the KC family struggled to find the resources to buy a home.  They have lived with extended family for the past seven years, until they learned in November 2020 that they were selected to be one of our newest Habitat LA partner families. As Mr. KC’s eldest son Spandan says “Especially for many immigrant families, due to the cost, owning a home can be a real struggle…having a home represents a sense of belonging, stability, and security…and not only helps people from all backgrounds come together but also creates a strong sense of community.”

We would like to give special thanks to Thrivent and 31 local faith congregations for their amazing generosity in providing the financial resources to help us build these two new homes. Thank you also to Lamps Plus and the many companies that generously supported this development with donated products and services.

We hope you can join us in early May to watch this special event on our Habitat LA YouTube Channel.
