Single Mother to Receive Keys to New Habitat for Humanity Home in Lynwood

Home Dedication Scheduled for June 19, 2015

Hernandez Family1Los Angeles, CA (June 19, 2015) – On June 19, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) will celebrate Ines Hernandez, a single, working mother, who is now a new homeowner. Habitat LA will host a dedication ceremony, from 10:30am to 12:30pm, where Ines will receive the keys to her new home and the donors and volunteers who made it all possible will be in attendance.

Ines, her son, Arturo, and her daughter, Alondra, will be moving from a one-bedroom apartment to a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the City of Lynwood. “It is a dream come true that I will finally have space for my kids to play and study in,” says Ines.

In order to become a Habitat LA homeowner, Ines completed homeownership education classes and 250 hours of sweat equity volunteering with Habitat LA. Ines also has good credit and will pay back a zero-interest mortgage.

Habitat LA will recognize the contributions of Ernst & Young LLP, The South Bay Workforce Investment Board, CCEO Youthbuild and the City of Lynwood to this project and Habitat LA’s overall work. All of these partners have generously donated their time and funds to make this home, as well as other homes, possible.

“We appreciate all of the wonderful companies and organizations that partnered with us to build this home and a future for Ines Hernandez and her children,” says Erin Rank, Habitat LA President and CEO. “Each of our homes is a community effort and this dedication will celebrate those partnerships and a new beginning for the Hernandez family.”
