Partnership Housing, City of Montebello and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Collaborate on New Duplexes

Groundbreaking Event to Take Place Monday, October 19

Los Angeles, CA (October 16, 2015) – Partnership Housing, the City of Montebello and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles will break ground on two new duplexes that will bring four affordable homeownership opportunities to the city. The groundbreaking celebration will take place on Monday, October 19 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at 1304 Colegrove Avenue in Montebello.

“We are very excited for the start of this project and to be building in Montebello,” says Erin Rank, Executive Director of Partnership Housing and Habitat LA President and CEO. “Groundbreakings are always a time to celebrate the partnerships that make it possible to serve more hardworking families and individuals.”

This project will help hardworking families and individuals move from overcrowded or substandard living conditions into two-story units with three bedrooms and two baths. Each unit will also include a number of green features such as; drought-tolerant landscaping, electric car charging ports, energy-efficient heating, insulation made from recycled content, low-flow plumbing fixtures and solar-ready systems.

“I am excited about the development that will bring a new housing opportunity in our City. Habitat for Humanity is a very reputable organization and I am pleased with their decision to choose Montebello as their latest site,” said Mayor Jack Hadjinian, City of Montebello.

Applications are currently being accepted for this housing development and for another development in the City of Inglewood. Partnership Housing and Habitat LA are seeking applicants who are low to limited income, but would be able to make zero-interest mortgage payments. Mortgage payments made by partners in the program contribute to funding for future builds, in turn empowering more families and individuals. Partner homebuyers must also contribute up to 500 hours of sweat equity building their homes and volunteering with Habitat LA. The deadline to apply is November 6 at 5:00pm and applications are available at Habitat LA’s headquarters: 8739 Artesia Blvd., Bellflower CA.
