Over 300 employees from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation came together for a day of service and giving back to the community.

On Thursday, January 23, 2020, Andrew Friedman, Dave Roberts and the entire Los Angeles Dodgers organization – front office, current and former players, coaches and broadcasters – and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation came together for a day of service and giving back to the community. The Dodgers partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) for their employee day of service, selecting Habitat LA’s Playhouse Build Program as their team building activity; building and painting 15 playhouses for underserved children.

The Los Angeles Dodgers held their 17th annual community service week at the end of January 2020 as a part of the Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America. This extended week of community outreach and fan appreciation included 12 events and featured the entire Dodgers organization as well as nearly 150 Bank of America employee volunteers.

Andrew Friedman (President of Baseball Operations), Dave Roberts (Manager), A.J. Pollock (Center Fielder), Austin Barnes (Catcher), Matt Beaty (First Baseman and Left Fielder), Dustin May (Pitcher), and Kyle Garlick (Outfielder) all put down their gloves and picked up a hammer and paint brush to offer a helping hand in building fully-functional playhouses that provide children with a unique space to call their own.

“Most of our time and energy in baseball operations is spent doing everything we can to win as many games as possible. But days like this off the field, as an organization, we can all come together and make a lasting impact in our community,” said Andrew Friedman, President of Baseball Operations, L.A. Dodgers.

Over 300 employee volunteers donned shirts with the LA Dodgers logo and the words: “LEAD. SERVE. INSPIRE.” as they participated in a full day of service on the lodge levels of Dodger Stadium overlooking the baseball field. “I am just continually amazed at how much enthusiasm this entire [Dodgers] organization has [for] serving.” Manager of L.A. Dodgers, Dave Roberts shared about the employee day of service. “Thank you for having us and for all of your service.”

Once the paint dried, the players and management autographed the 15 baseball themed playhouses that will find homes within the community surrounding Dodger Stadium. “The Dodgers have been great community partners with Habitat LA for many years,” explained Erin Rank, President and CEO of Habitat LA. “This year for our 30th anniversary, we are excited we will be honoring the Dodgers at our Los Angeles Builders Ball. Days like today are a nice reminder how we are all working together to lead, serve and inspire Los Angeles.”
