Jimmy Carter’s 32-Year Passion Project to Build Homes

For 32 years, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter have made it an annual tradition to build homes with Habitat for Humanity during the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. The first one took place in New York City in 1984 and since then has helped build more than 4,000 homes. At almost 92 years old the work is hard, but gratifying for the former President. He explained, “It’s a practical way to put my religious beliefs into practice.” CNN recently spoke with President Carter about his longtime dedication to building strength and stability through affordable housing.
