Jeunesse Distributors Raise more than $120,000 and Volunteer to Build Affordable Homes
Los Angeles, CA – February 12, 2019: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) and
Jeunesse Kids recently partnered to build affordable housing in Culver City. Jeunesse Kids (Jeunesse Global’s nonprofit foundation) sponsored a build day with Habitat LA during LEAD Jeunesse
2019 North America, which was held in Los Angeles January 11 – 13. During the annual event,
Jeunesse Distributors raised $124,186 to support Habitat LA’s mission of building safe, decent and affordable housing. As part of Jeunesse’s commitment, approximately 60 Jeunesse Distributors spent a day building Habitat for Humanity houses and playhouses at the site of its 10-home Globe Avenue project in Culver City.
“We are very grateful to Jeunesse and their Distributors for coming together to support our mission,” said Erin Rank, President and CEO, Habitat LA. “Not only have they raised a significant amount of money, they came out to build homes with us on on a very cold, wet day here in Los Angeles! Their commitment and warm smiles will have a lasting impact on the families who will call these houses home.”
Partnering with Habitat LA to provide families with stable housing is a natural fit for Jeunesse Kids to further its mission of empowering communities to give children a brighter future. While in Los Angeles for its annual LEAD event, Jeunesse Distributors supported Habitat LA in a number of ways beyond construction, including fundraising and building awareness. During the three-day event, Jeunesse invited partner homeowner and single mother of four, Denise Harris, to share her journey to Habitat homeownership. President and CEO Erin Rank was invited on stage Sunday, January 13th to accept a check presented by Jeunesse Distributors and Chief Visionary Officer, Scott Lewis.
“We are proud to partner with Habitat LA to help build homes for Los Angeles families. Stable housing provides a multitude of benefits for children and can help lift them up from a lifetime of potential poverty. We are happy to support this project and honored to work alongside the families that will call Globe Avenue home for years to come,” said Jeunesse Chief Visionary Officer, Scott Lewis.
Nearly 60 Jeunesse team members, including Randy Ray (Founder and Chief Executive Officer), Wendy Lewis (Founder and Chief Operations Officer) and Scott Lewis (Chief Visionary Officer) attended the build. Many volunteered to build six homes in various stages of construction as well as two playhouses. The scope of work on the homes included interior painting and carport carpentry. Volunteers worked alongside six partner family homeowners during their build day, including David Snyder, a single father and veteran, who shared his journey to Habitat homeownership during the lunch break presentation.
