Sixty distributors from Jeunesse Kids (Jeunesse Global’s nonprofit foundation), an international direct seller of skincare and nutritional products, braved the rain January 14 to build and paint houses large and small at our Globe Ave. construction site in Culver City.

The Build Day was the culmination of LEAD Jeunesse 2019 North America, an annual three-day expo which that also included several events at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. At the Saturday night Fund-A Need auction, participants raised $124,186 to help build and repair homes for needy families in Southern California.

Despite intermittent downpours, volunteers worked alongside future homeowners, putting up ceiling panels, painting bedrooms, and installing fire blocking. They also assembled and painted a playhouse, which will be sold to raise additional funds for Habitat LA.

Giving back to the community has been a part of Jeunesse’s story since its inception. The company makes annual financial contributions through its nonprofit, Jeunesse Kids, whose goal (“One Heart, One Hope, One Mission”) is to build brighter futures for young people in underprivileged communities.

“This is the first time we have served with our hands, not just our hearts,” said Katy Holt-Larsen, President of Jeunesse North America. “We’re very committed to helping families make sustainable change. The rain hasn’t stopped us.”

Over lunch, Randy Ray, Jeunesse’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, regaled the crowd with his inspiring rags-to-riches story, and his message of service. Despite his extremely humble beginnings, Ray said he has felt blessed his whole life. “My father said if you’ve been blessed, you need to bless others.”

Cici Weller, one of Jeunesse’s top distributors, spent the day enthusiastically painting bedrooms, alongside 10 of her colleagues from the U.S. and Canada. “Everybody here wants to do more,” said Weller. “We’re grateful to Jeunesse and to Habitat LA for giving us an opportunity to share the love and to inspire others.”
