It’s our fiscal New Year, and we have much to celebrate at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA)! In fiscal year 2017-2018 we celebrated our 28th year, finished our 800th home, raised more than $8 Million to continue building homes, community and hope. We expanded our territory to serve a geography spanning nearly 85 percent of Los Angeles County and assisted victims of the wildfires in north Los Angeles County through our home repair program. We opened our third ReStore, a nonprofit home improvement thrift store, located in the heart of Los Angeles on Earth Day – a fitting day to celebrate since our ReStores have helped divert more than 11 million pounds of materials from local landfills since 2004.
We could not have reached any of these milestones without supporters and donors like YOU!! At Habitat LA we know our success is only possible because of the dedication of so many supporters. From faith groups, to corporate partners, to individual donors and volunteers, it takes a village to build a thriving community.
This New Year we resolve to continue offering a hand up not a hand out to the hard-working families we serve. We believe a decent place to live at an affordable price is the key to creating a sustainable solution to breaking the cycle of poverty.
At Habitat LA we like to think we are not just building homes, we are building humanity. Every volunteer who has joined us this year, or any year, has their own story to tell about a beautiful experience of giving-back to a neighbor in-need. Please help us continue the momentum – volunteer, donate, or simply spread the word about our mission. Together we can build a Greater Los Angeles!
