Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Once Again Named Beneficiary of La Cienega Design Quarter’s LEGENDS Event

“Your True Colors” event will Support Affordable Housing in the Community

Los Angeles, CA — May 3, 2017Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is an official beneficiary LEGENDS-2017-posterof the LEGENDS 2017 event to be held May 9 – 11 in the La Cienega Design Quarter (LCDQ).  LEGENDS is a 3-day celebration of design that brings together thousands of VIPs and tastemakers from the worlds of interior design, decor, art, fashion, and architecture. Habitat LA will receive a percentage of tickets sales from the event. Since 2012, LCDQ has donated over $150,000 to support Habitat LA.

“Habitat LA is a great organization that we are honored to support. We believe that home should be a place of peace and comfort and Habitat provides that foundation, so it just makes sense,” said Gerry Bross, treasurer of LCDQ and former Chairman of the Board for Habitat LA. “Our members feel it is important to use our event to not only give back but raise awareness about the need in our own community.”

The LEGENDS 2017 theme “Your True Colors” will be expressed in the 60+ windows of the member LCDQ shops, showrooms, and galleries. The window designers have been invited to express originality and diversity in the vignettes they create. LEGENDS continues to grow in popularity each year, with thousands traveling to Los Angeles for the 3-day event that begins with a Gala cocktail reception followed by 2 days of keynote panels, receptions, personal appearances, book signings, roundtables and exhibitions. “We have been honored to be a non-profit partner benefitting from the LEGENDS event for so many years,” says Erin Rank, President & CEO, Habitat LA. “This partnership has helped us raise much-needed funds and has increased awareness and volunteerism within the design community. The support of donors like LCDQ help us get one step closer to our goal of ending substandard housing in Los Angeles.”

In addition to proceeds from ticket sales, LCDQ member Dragonette LTD will support Habitat LA during LEGENDS 2017 with an in-store and online campaign. The Color My World campaign is a project put together by Doug and Gene Meyer in conjunction with Patrick Dragonette, who will host a VIP reception at his storefront, Dragonette LTD, on May 9th from 8 to 10pm, where guests may acquire an original artwork (measuring 12”X18”) from internationally renowned designers and artists for a donation of $500 each. The identity of the designer/artist is revealed only after the work is purchased. On May 10th, the remaining sketches will be available to the public online and in-store at 1:00 pm for $200 each.  All proceeds from the Color My World campaign benefit Habitat LA.
