Donations will Provide Holiday Gifts to 25 Habitat Partner Families
Los Angeles, CA- November 14, 2014: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ (Habitat LA) Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program was developed to help provide support to families who recently moved into their new Habitat home or received home repair services due to a financial need. Despite the fact that they now have a decent, sustainable and affordable home, many still lack the resources for holiday “extras”. More than half of the families Habitat LA serves earn less than 50% of the County’s area median income. For a family of four, that equates to $40,750 annually. This year’s participants are children, senior citizens, disabled, veteran and military families.
A donation of $250 will sponsor an entire family, but a monetary or gift card donation of any amount will also make a big difference.
“Your generosity fills me with hope and the need to give back. Our family feels fortunate to see the good in others through your gift. I will forever remember this. I thank you on behalf of my children and wish you continued blessings. ” Adopt-A-Family Participant, 2013
The Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program matches Habitat LA partner families with an individual or group donor who sponsors a holiday basket filled with treats, gift cards, and toys for their children. All donations are tax-deductible and must be received by December 5, 2014.
“Our partner homeowners have worked so hard to purchase and maintain their homes, all while continuing to be good stewards in the community,” said Erin Rank, Habitat LA president/CEO. “The Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program is one of my favorite programs because it allows for us, along with your donations, to bring a little extra holiday joy to our hardworking partner families.”
Celebrate the season of giving by making a donation and/or fundraising with friends, family, and co-workers to adopt one or more Habitat LA partner families.

Partner homeowners agree to pay back a zero-interest mortgage and contribute 200-500 hours of sweat equity building or renovating Habitat LA homes. Through the Home Repair Program, Habitat LA partners with low-income homeowners to restore their homes. Habitat LA partner homeowners are hardworking, low-income families and individuals who are simply in need of a hand up, not a handout. Many of them work serving greater Los Angeles as teachers, healthcare workers, government employees and members of the small business community.
Donations may be made to the “Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program” online or by making checks payable to Habitat LA and sending them to:
