Fifty volunteers will give back before they get to work as part of Channel@Work program
Los Angeles, CA (March 2, 2016) – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) will welcome 50 volunteers from all across the country for a build day occurring during The Channel Company’s XChange Solution Provider 2016 conference, a gathering of IT leaders, technology vendors and solution providers. The build day will take place Monday, March 7th from 12:30pm to 4:00pm at 573 Hyde Park Place in Inglewood and will offer attendees the opportunity to connect with the local community in a meaningful way.
The Channel Company, and specifically the XChange events team, created Channel@Work to bring vendors and end users together as a way of kicking off their conferences. “Building a Habitat for Humanity home provides a unique experience as it gives volunteers an opportunity to not only make a difference with their time, but also make a connection with families working toward homeownership and stability,” says Lisa MacKenzie, Partner, Senior Vice President, The Channel Company.
“The Channel Company has worked with the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in New Orleans and we are excited that they will now be partnering with us,” says Erin Rank, Habitat LA President and CEO. “We look forward to having them participate in the great work we are doing here in Los Angeles.”
Microsoft Corporation is the generous underwriter of this Channel@Work project where volunteers will be helping to build three Habitat LA homes. Construction on this development began on Veterans Day 2015 with more than 100 corporate, active military and veteran volunteers. In addition, one of the homes is being designated for a veteran homebuyer. The three bedroom, two bathroom homes will be sold to low-income, hardworking homebuyers who will invest up to 500 hours of sweat equity helping to build their home and volunteer with Habitat LA.
