City National Bank Returns as Presenting Sponsor for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ 17th Annual Power Women, Power Tools®

Event builds upon City National’s more than 20-year history of supporting Habitat LA

Los Angeles, CA – March 9, 2021: City National Bank, America’s Premier Private, and Business Bank®, announced their return for the third year as the presenting sponsor for Power Women, Power Tools®.

Each year, this event brings together “power women” from different industries, including entertainment industry executives, celebrities, corporate leaders, government officials, faith leaders, and community stakeholders to share their time, talents and financial resources to support the work of Habitat LA. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held virtually to ensure the health and safety of participants. Though physically apart, the community will still build together.

The Power Women, Power Tools® build was born out of the Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity program, which supports Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) through donations, volunteer hours and advocacy. The virtual event will air live on Saturday, March 13 at 11:00 am PST.

This year, the program will highlight Habitat LA’s efforts to build strength, stability and self-reliance throughout greater Los Angeles. The event will feature Habitat LA’s work and community partnerships in Long Beach’s Washington neighborhood. It will also feature a very inspiring panel of power women from the corporate, faith and public sectors, including the City of Long Beach’s District 1 Councilmember Mary Zendejas, City National Bank’s Senior Vice President of Marketing Karen A. Clark, and Kathleen Buckley Domingo, Senior Director of the Office of Life, Justice and Peace at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

“Power Women, Power Tools® is an opportunity for us to bring together the “Power Women” in our communities to empower each other and help our partner families build strength and stability,” said Erin Rank, President and CEO, Habitat LA. “With the support of City National Bank, we are making an impact and thank all those who are using the tools in their toolbelt to support our mission.

The event will also include a unique opportunity to support local, female-owned businesses through the Women’s Empowerment Marketplace. A portion of all sales with the code PWPT21 will go back to the work of Habitat LA. In addition to this, an online auction will feature a variety of exciting experiences, luxury packages and unique gifts. All funds raised from this event will help Habitat LA continue to transform the lives of hundreds of low-income families in need of decent, affordable housing.

City National Bank has helped Habitat affiliates for more than 20 years on the West Coast, with projects including team home builds and fundraising galas. In the summer of 2019, City National Bank kicked off its partnership with Habitat LA as the presenting sponsor for the Hollywood Build two-day event, which attracted more than 300 volunteers and raised nearly $300,000 to help address the pressing need for affordable housing in greater Los Angeles through permanent housing solutions. In the fall of 2020, City National Bank was also the presenting sponsor for the 2020 Los Angeles Builders Ball®, which raised nearly $800,000, including an exciting live auction and a fund-a-need.

“Habitat for Humanity’s mission to solve the affordable housing crisis is one of the most critical issues facing our society today, especially during this unprecedented time,” said Linda Duncombe, executive vice president and chief marketing, product and digital officer of City National Bank and board member for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. “City National has a long history of supporting communities where our colleagues and clients live and work – that is just as true now as it was before the pandemic, and it will be true long afterward. We are proud to partner with Habitat and help families build safer, healthier and better lives in our communities.”

For more than 30 years, Habitat LA has worked to build better futures for families in the greater Los Angeles area. Through the continued support of community partners such as City National Bank, Habitat LA will continue its commitment to ensure everyone has a safe and decent place to call home.
