Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ (Habitat LA) Playhouse Build Program is a unique building opportunity that provides children with a space to call their own, while supporting our mission to provide families with affordable housing solutions. Team building with Habitat LA offers your company the chance to strengthen your team and the greater Los Angeles community. Volunteer teams spend the day building durable and fully functional playhouses; constructing the walls, door, windows, trim, the roof, and painting the structure. The playhouses are then donated to our hard-working partner families, Habitat ReStores, community partners and local nonprofits.
We bring the tools, materials, and training from our skilled construction staff — you just bring helping hands and hope to your community. The best part is we can deliver the build day experience directly to you! The Playhouse Build Day can be hosted at your office parking lot, a reserved outdoor space, or even a special event. We will work with you to customize your build day experience to fit your group’s needs.
Don’t have space? Don’t worry, we can host your Playhouse Build Day at our Bellflower, Los Angeles or Torrance ReStore locations. When hosted at our location, a group can build up to ten playhouses at one time. We also offer the opportunity to include other fun activities such as building planter boxes, cornhole games, and bunk beds.
A Playhouse Build Day is a single-day commitment from 8:30am-3:30pm, with a tax-deductible sponsorship of $5,000 per playhouse. The sponsorship covers the cost and transportation of all building materials, Habitat LA construction supervision and support.
