Neemat photo I am currently a high school student entering my senior year at Hawthorne Math and Science Academy.

I was looking for any internship to occupy my summer and help me attain some work experience. A friend told me about the Bank of America Student Leadership program, stating that her sister did it and had a wonderful experience.

I did some research on the internship and instantly became intrigued. I applied and was overjoyed to receive an acceptance notice. It was exciting to know that Bank of America shared interest in investing in my future. Being an eight-week paid internship, Bank of America chose my local non-profit organization: Habitat for Humanity for Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA).

As I began my internship, the mission to help low-income, hard-working families have hope, the opportunity to live in a home, and be a part of the community immediately appealed to me. With pleasure, I was able to take part in building a Habitat LA home. This gratifying experience made me understand the importance and effectiveness of civic engagement.

Habitat LA has helped me discover a new aspiration; helping those less fortunate. It is an amazing opportunity to be a part of an organization that serves its people by building the fundamentals in a community. I am truly blessed to be a Bank of America intern at my new home – Habitat LA.
