Last week was Act! Speak! Build! Week (ASBW), a national Habitat for Humanity youth advocacy week that encourages youth to advocate for affordable housing. Actor Donis Leonard Jr. was Habitat LA’s Youth Ambassador for ASBW. Together we engaged more than 600 youth during ASBW in various ways. We had youth design doors, write home acrostic poems, decorate t-shirts to advocate for adequate housing (the t-shirts were hung outside on clotheslines as part of advocacy), write letters to President Obama and our state representatives, create an iMovie to share on YouTube, post on social media and give announcements at their schools.
