The holidays can be an expensive time for hardworking families. Stretching the budget to find presents for everyone on their list can often mean scrimping on basic necessities like food. That’s why we started our annual Adopt-A-Family event: to provide families with a hand up during the holiday season.
At the 2018 event, held December 15 at the Calvary Bellflower Church, 20 of our partner families received $250 gift cards, thanks to our title sponsor U.S. Bank, while their kids got to pick out toys provided by MGA Entertainment and Lil Tykes. Many thanks to our individual donors like Chris Locke, who helped make the event extra special, and to Board Members Ken Walker and Tammy McGuinness, who personally supported the event. Some of the homeowners who attended the festivities had been in their Habitat homes since 2000; others just moved in this past September.
