Over 400 Volunteers to Join Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles & Lowe’s for 2017 Hollywood Build

Celebrities and volunteers will frame walls for Culver City neighborhood June 9 and 10

Los Angeles (June 2, 2017) – More than 400 volunteers are expected to help build the walls for 10 new homes at the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ (Habitat LA) 2017 Hollywood Build on June 9-10 in Culver City, California. This two-day build, presented by Lowe’s, will consist of the Entertainment Industry Build on Friday and the 13th annual Power Women, Power Tools® on Saturday.

Volunteers will include celebrities, entertainment industry executives, government representatives, corporate executives and individuals from faith-based organizations and community groups.  The 2017 Hollywood Build will demonstrate Habitat LA’s commitment to investing $100 million into affordable homeownership opportunities and neighborhood revitalization in Los Angeles, as part of its Building a Greater Los Angeles campaign.

“The Hollywood Build is one of our most popular events of the year, attracting a large number of volunteers from various industries, who want a hands-on experience building and transforming lives here in Los Angeles,” said Erin Rank, President and CEO of Habitat LA. “Each year we are moved by the overwhelming support we receive to help low-income families achieve stability and self-reliance for a stronger future.”

Volunteers will work side-by-side future homebuyers and current homeowners, who also invest their time and energy into sweat equity hours as part of their partnership with Habitat LA. Specifically, participants will be framing walls that will be used to construct 10 new homes in Culver City.

This is the sixth year that Lowe’s has supported the Hollywood Build, furthering the company’s commitment to help Habitat LA raise awareness of the critical need for affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization in Los Angeles.

“For Lowe’s, it is so meaningful to help families on their path to homeownership,” said Veronica January, Lowe’s Market Director. “The sense of pride and security that comes from owning a home is really the foundation for building a strong and healthy family life and future.”

Additional funding and volunteer support is provided by: Abrams Artists Agency, IMAX Corporation, the Lelia Fund, Paradigm Talent Agency, The Queen Mary, Tarte high performance naturals and Warner Brothers Records.
