2019 Los Angeles Builders Ball® Host Committee Spotlight: Carl Jordan

Carl Jordan is a very familiar face at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA). He volunteers frequently at build sites, locally and internationally, supports our special events, and has been a member of our Board of Directors for many years. Carl is very hands-on in a variety of ways, from fundraising to helping select our future homeowners. We are honored once again to have Carl serve on the 2019 Los Angeles Builders Ball® Host Committee. We hope you enjoy getting to know a little bit more about Carl and why he is so passionate about giving back with Habitat.

Who inspires you to give back to your community?

The people that need the services that Habitat offers – when you talk to them and hear their stories, it is truly inspirational.

Why do you support Habitat for Humanity? How long have you been involved?

I support Habitat for Humanity because of their values and the services they provide. There is nothing more essential to a family and their lives than having a safe place to live. I have been involved for 9 years.

What do you wish people knew about Habitat for Humanity?

Habitat does not build homes for free and does not give them away. People have to earn them and help build them.

What does “home” mean to you?

Home is a place that creates a safe and loving environment.

Please share a special Habitat memory.

A special Habitat memory of mine is the international trips to Bangladesh and Vietnam. In meeting with the families, I was able to better understand the importance of having a home and that the issue extends well beyond anything local – it is a worldwide issue. I was able to learn more from them than they learned from me.

What 3 emojis describe you and why?
