In honor of Veterans Day, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA), together with our sponsors and volunteers, is providing two local veterans with critically needed home repairs. The home repairs will take place on November 10-12, 2021. We proudly serve veterans, active-duty members, and their families through our Habitat for Heroes initiative.
Together, we can help more veterans have a safe, decent place to call home! Will you help us give back to our heroes and reach our goal of $75,000? Your support will help us serve more veterans year-round through affordable homeownership, home repairs, and homebuyer education.
Meet the Veterans We’re Helping
Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army
Meet Oscar, a United States Army veteran who enlisted at just 17 years old and later continued his service in the National Guard. We are making numerous improvements to his house in Montebello so he and his family can continue to live in a decent home for years to come. Helping maintain his home will make it a place that provides a sense of security and comfort and allow him and his family to flourish where they live.
Repairs to Oscar’s home include:
- Exterior repairs of windows, stucco, trim, fascia
- Exterior paint
- Rain gutter repairs
- Back door and garage door replacements
Buck Sergeant, U.S. Army
Meet Richard, a United States Army veteran who served in World War II. We are helping repair his house in Pico Rivera so he can continue living safely in the home and community where he has thrived for so many years. Preserving his home to ensure it’s in good condition will allow his family, including his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, to gather there and allow Richard to age in place.
Repairs to Richard's home include:
- Replacement of security doors and fascia
- Repair of safety rails, entry posts, and rafters
- Exterior painting of home and garage
