GENERAL DESCRIPTION


Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is seeking a qualified candidate to assist our Drives in picking up donated goods for future sales in our ReStore. This position involves daily communication with dispatch and supervisors to determine the best routes possible to complete all pick-ups each day as well as communication with ReStore staff and donors. Successful candidates will be presentable, personable, as well as professional. The Drivers Assistant will be a representative of the organization, helping to assess donations, safely load, and secure donated goods onto trucks, complete proper donation paperwork, unload materials at the ReStore, and maintain the truck keeping it clean and ready each day. (Assistant Drivers may be asked to fill in for Drivers occasionally as needed.)

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Assisting in Guiding Drivers in backing up, parking, and overall general safety staying vigilant on the road always navigating the driver.
  • Communication with the donor before the arrival of pick-ups.
  • Verifying with the donor the items to be picked up and communicating to the CSRs or Management when additional items are being added to a pickup.
  • Loading and unloading items safely and carefully using proper equipment onto the trucks and into the warehouse/loading docks.
  • Issuing donation receipts noting all items picked up before leaving the donation site. Ensuring all added items are added onto the receipt and approved by the CSRs or management.
  • Communicate with dispatch, management, and supervisors in regularly answering phone calls.
  • Filling in for Drivers as needed.
  • Assisting the warehouse/ReStore when the truck route is finished as needed, ensuring a full 8- hour workday.
  • Assist with marketing, placing door hangers after each donation pickup to adjacent homes in the area.

SUMMARY OF JOB QUALIFICATIONS


  • Valid Driver’s License, minimum 19 years of age/clean DMV Record.
  • OSHA Forklift Certified preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Vonigo software preferred but not required
  • Pass a 10-panel drug test, background check, and 75 lb. lift test.
  • Customer Interaction.
  • Communication Skills.
  • Being able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods, as well as working in different weather conditions, is sometimes needed.

COMPENSATION


The base pay range for this position is $17.27 - $18.50, this position is being offered at $17.27 .
