2013 Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity Build-A-Thon Impact Area

Lynwood, Calif. has been designated as a Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) city by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. Gardena ReStore volunteer Roxley Pratt has a unique story and heartfelt commitment to service so, in honor of Roxley's last day today, we thought we'd share his story with the world he makes so much better every day.In 1998, 20 year old Roxley and his family fled Sierra Leone, West Africa for the United States to escape the country's civil war. His family of five - including his mother, father, sister, and brother - had never left Sierra Leone before the war. The family boarded the African Queen, which had a capacity of approximately 170, along with 750 refugees for a four day journey. Fair to be Held at California State University, Dominguez Hills Los Angeles, CA -- January 24, 2012: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) will host a Homeownership Resource Fair on Saturday, February 4, 2012. The organization will provide information on a variety of opportunities for Los Angeles-area, low-income individuals and families interested in affordable homeownership and home repair services.  The Homeownership Resource Fair will take place at Cal State University, Dominguez Hills in the Loker Student Union at 1000 East Victoria Street in the city of Carson and is open to the general public.  Two sessions will be available (9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm).
