We love our partner homeowners and it’s an honor to share their stories about how homeownership has enriched their family’s lives. On Saturday, June 7th 2014, we had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremony for Maywood Academy High School for Tanya Silerio and Luis Delgado Jr., held at East Los Angeles College. Last March, the Silerio family received the keys to their new Habitat home and it was a day they had all been anticipating. They were overwhelmed with joy and started planning how to decorate long before moving in. This past weekend, The Silerios experienced another joyful moment as daughter, Tanya Silerio graduated from Maywood Academy High School. Luis Delgado Jr. also graduated from Maywood Academy High School this past weekend. Volunteers Put Faith into Action to Rehabilitate Two Lynwood Homes  Los Angeles, CA – November 26, 2012: The need for affordable housing brought together volunteers from the faith traditions of Baha’i, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, the Religious Society of Friends and Unitarian Universalism for the first Interfaith Build Week in Habitat for Humanity of Greater L.A.’s (HFH GLA) history. Los Angeles, CA – May 16, 2012– Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) will host more than 75 AmeriCorps members the week of May 20-25 for Habitat for Humanity International’s annual AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon. In addition to Los Angeles, the annual Build-a-Thon will be hosted by Habitat affiliates in Dallas, Milwaukee, and Pensacola, Fl. May 14-25. The builds will engage over 400 AmeriCorps members and alumni from 36 states, and helps to highlight local community needs for affordable housing and the members’ service with Habitat.
