Why: Habitat for Humanity makes homeownership possible for low income families in Los Angeles - a market ranked last in the U.S. for homeownership affordability. The Lynwood neighborhood will include three homes. The building site partners are City of Lynwood, Buildable Hours, Youth United, Price Waterhouse Coopers, State Farm and more partners will be added. The home built in collaboration with Youth United’s “Nickels for Nails” program is built with youth ages 5 to 25 working together to raise money and awareness, while youth ages 16 to 25 build the house. The program helps to teach young people to become leaders and people from different ages, backgrounds, faiths and organizations to work together. Sponsors are still being sought for the third home.
