Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles holds several special build events throughout the year. In fact we see our builds as our major events. Rather than buying a table at a Gala, we encourage you to sponsor a build day for your team to participate in the best experience of their lives!
The 3rd Annual General Hospital Fans Build Day!
For the 3rd year in a row, our Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity program hosted the General Hospital Fan Build Day on December 10, 2011! Cast members from General Hospital ditched the drama for a rewarding experience on one of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ (HFH GLA) build sites. These build days have been incredible for all involved, and cast members and fans alike have commented that building alongside Habitat for Humanity partner homeowners provided an experience they will never forget. Build Day cast members have included: Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri), Kelly Sullivan (Kate Howard), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine), Leslie Charleson (Monica Quartermaine), Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina Davis), Ronnie Marmo (Ronnie Dimestico), Sean Blakemore (Shawn Butler), Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones), Andrea Bogart (Abby Haver), Jason Cook (Matt Hunter), Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake), Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio), Brianna Brown (Lisa Niles) and more!

Your Birthday!
Join us and celebrate your special day with a special Birthday Build! Invite your family and friends to build with you on a buildsite in Los Angeles. We’ll help you get creative with ideas for party favors, t-shirts, and a catered lunch menu. Also, you can choose to avoid gifts and instead give your family and friends a better way to honor you – by giving donations to HFH GLA in your name! We can help you with the invites (i.e. a $25 donation buys a bucket of nails, a $100 donation will buy a toilet, etc.). This can be a great way to ring in a new year! For more information please email: Jennifer Wise, Director of Development at jwise@habitatla.org or (310) 323-4663 ext. 124.
Hollywood For Habitat For Humanity (HFHFH) Build-A-Thon
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) hosted the Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity (HFHFH) Build-A-Thon June 10-11 and June 15-18, 2011 in Burbank, California. Participants in this high profile event helped build and rehabilitate eight homes alongside the future homeowners. The HFHFH Build-A-Thon is a special event that ties the entertainment industry to Habitat’s work by providing them with a hands-on experience while furthering Habitat’s mission of eliminating substandard housing. HFH GLA has also teamed up with Global Green USA to insure the homes are built to a LEED standard and will be certified. This event is designed to increase awareness, raise funds to build the eight homes, and inspire people into action. To find out how you can support this event, email us at events@habitatla.org. Lowe’s Power Women, Power Tools ™ Build Event 2011

Power Women, Power Tools (PWPT) is an annual invitation‐only, all‐women build event hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles and is a part of their Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity program. Women from all walks of life come together during this special build event to build homes for families and individuals in
need of safe, decent and affordable housing. On Saturday, June 18, 2011, as part of the Lowe’s PWPT 2011, more than 200 women helped build eight homes in the City of Burbank to help support Habitat for Humanity’s goal of eliminating substandard housing worldwide by making simple, affordable and sustainable housing a matter of conscience and action. This development will be built with the help of an estimated 3,000 volunteers. Many of the volunteers at PWPT were corporate executives from Fortune 500 companies, production companies, and the music industry, as well as the cast and crew of several TV shows and feature films. Every year the event attracts women who join together to make a difference building homes and leave feeling inspired and empowered. To support this event or nominate a Power Woman to participate in next years PWPT, please email us at events@habitatla.org. Check out pictures from our 2011 PWPT build here!
