August has been a busy month and we are thankful for the many different volunteer groups that partnered with us!
In Long Beach, construction is underway on a new four home community. The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s professional staff spent their annual employee retreat working on these homes and showing their support for building more affordable housing in L.A. County. We are so appreciative of their hard work and effort to help us Build a Greater Los Angeles!
We are in the final stages of construction on six homes in Downey and our leading sponsor of the site, the Kabbalah Centre, joined us for a final build day on August 17th. The Centre kicked off the project with a build day back in December and came back multiple times over the course of the project to help with construction. It was very special to have Monica Berg, Co-Director of Kabbalah Centre’s Charitable Causes, join us from New York for their final build day. We were also thrilled to have Jeremy Kraut-Ordover, Habitat for Humanity VP of Individual Giving; City of Downey Councilmember Rick Rodriguez; and Ashley Rozatti from state assemblymember Cristina Garcia’s office.
Keenan, a California insurance brokerage and consulting firm for health care organizations and public agencies, partnered with us for their fifth annual Impact Day. Over the course of two days, 100 employees helped to build and decorate playhouses in Lakewood which will be sold in our ReStores or donated to our families with young children.
