Last Week, Veza founder Brandon Michaels took his first trip to visit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ (Habitat LA) home build site in Long Beach, California. Veza’s collaboration with Habitat LA really started to have meaning after Brandon’s on-site visit to the current Habitat LA home in production. Brandon had an opportunity to spend a day, on location, and get a whole new meaning of partnership as he dug, sawed, mixed and nailed under the hot August sun. Being a part of the action gave Brandon and Veza an entirely new perspective on collaboration as they turned in their formal attire for sneakers and spent an entire day learning how Habitat LA makes such an impact. Later that day, Brandon had the opportunity to meet and build with Miguel, a member of the family ...

The 10th Annual “Power Women Power Tools” event was held Saturday, June 21, 2014 in the City of Lynwood. I had the privilege to work alongside strong women from different backgrounds. As we worked together to build the remaining 4 townhouses, I felt an extreme joy to know that soon my fellow Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles homeowner applicants would each have the opportunity to be homeowners of a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom townhouse. As a homeowner applicant, I look forward to continuing to build homes, and one day look forward to owning my own home. I thank Habitat LA for allowing me to participate in this PWPT event and I look forward to next year’s event.

Blog post shared by Bank of America Student Leader and Habitat LA Intern, Neemat Abdusemed: I am currently a high school student entering my senior year at Hawthorne Math and Science Academy. I was looking for any internship to occupy my summer and help me attain some work experience. A friend told me about the Bank of America Student Leadership program, stating that her sister did it and had a wonderful experience. I did some research on the internship and instantly became intrigued. I applied and was overjoyed to receive an acceptance notice. It was exciting to know that Bank of America shared an interest in investing in my future. Being an eight-week paid internship, Bank of America chose my local non-profit organization: Habitat for Humanity for Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA). As ...

Posted by guest blogger: Roxana Sanchez Somewhere in the swirl of senior year, a former teacher turned mentor, posted a link on my Facebook wall. The link read: Bank of America Student Leaders Program. Though Bank of America was on my radar, I didn’t know they performed other functions outside of banking. In the Student Leaders Program, Bank of America sponsors students who are involved in their communities, to work an 8-week paid internship at a local non-profit. Also as part of the internship, Student Leaders are required to participate in an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. for a week-long leadership summit. So in January 2014, I submitted my application and continued on with my life. Months after, when I least expected, I got an email from Bank of America congratulating me. A few days later I was informed of ...

Posted by Ashley Noel I shot these interviews while on site in Malawi, for my first Global Village build with Habitat for Humanity. I wanted to capture my team and document everyone's feelings, emotions and revelations. It was so beautiful to see these 15 strangers come together with the common goal of building homes and giving these families a solid foundation to build their future. By the end of the trip, we were truly a family, not just with each other, but with the homeowners and the village as well. Our team keeps in touch and we want to continue to support our village in any way we can. Hopefully we can go back in a few years to do a follow up trip! In the meantime, I'm already looking forward to my next Global Village trip next year! God Bless!
